Evening Worship & Takeaways
It’s not often in our parish that we get together for an evening service, and yet the evening is surely as sacred as the morning. This is bound to be a special time as we come together to worship and then eat.
Make a note of the time and place (5.00pm at Holy Innocents, Church St., Amberley) and we hope to see you there – visitors very welcome.
Plan to stay afterwards for takeaways – individual orders for fish and chips or Thai will be taken and placed before the service, ready to be collected and enjoyed at leisure afterwards. Please bring necessary cash.
Even though we haven’t been blogging in recent months, we aim to keep the ‘Church Services’ and ‘Messy Church/Children and Families’ pages up to date. Our apologies that this has slipped in the last month.
The church services page is now updated for June 2016 and the Messy Church page is also showing current information.
It’s time for a break from blogging, so there will be no more posts here for a little while. However, the ‘Church services’, ‘About us’, and ‘Weddings’ pages on this site will be kept accurate and up to date, so you can still use them to find out when our next church service is and other important information.
The main programme for children and families is described on the ‘Children and families – Messy Church’ page, but in the next few months upcoming Messy Church events will be advertised via the Amberley Parish Facebook page
Thank you ,and see you again soon.
On the first Sunday of Advent, the Messy Church families got together to celebrate and make stuff! Our theme was ‘God keeps his promises’. After a Bible story and some songs and prayers, we got down to making candles and stained-glass window biscuits.
Here are a few pictures from the afternoon. Messy Church will be back in 2016 so check our Children and Families page on this site, and our parish Facebook page. Newcomers are welcome at Messy Church and they don’t have to attend regular Sunday services.
Messy Church noticeboard
for November 2015
Next Messy Church is on Sunday 29th November, at 4.15pm, in the hall next to Holy Innocents church, Church Street, Amberley. ALL WELCOME!
Our theme in November: Advent: Getting Ready for Christmas
We will be making candles.
We will also hear stories from the Bible and meet the fabulous Cecil the Sheep (again) and his friends as they race to Bethlehem to meet the new king that the angel has told them about.
Feel free to arrive at the hall any time between 4.15 and 4.30pm.
We will begin with music and stories at about 4.30pm, followed by craft time.
Messy Church will finish in the usual way, with a relaxed shared Supper.
Please bring a small plate of finger-food to share if you can.
Sorry for the late notice, but please note that the Living Wage hearing at the HDC has been postponed for now.
Can you spare an hour of your time to support Anglican Advocacy and the Living Wage movement as they try to make a difference to people in our very own Hurunui district?
Living Wage Canterbury is taking deputation to the Hurunui District Council at 1pm on the 27th August, 66 Carters Road, Amberley. As ratepayers of the district, we are able to attend this meeting and it would be wonderful to see the chambers packed for a change.
Did you know that of the 285,000 children that live in poverty in New Zealand, 40% of them live in families where at least one parent is working full-time or self-employed? Continue reading
